About crypto.loans
Why we built this
After FTX, Celsius, BlockFi, and Voyager collapsed, borrowers lost billions to platforms that looked safe on paper. The comparison sites that were supposed to help people choose wisely were ranking platforms by affiliate commission, not by what actually protects borrowers. Some of the highest-ranked platforms on those sites were the ones that failed.
We built crypto.loans to fix that. Not another blog with opinion-based reviews — a comparison engine backed by live data pipelines, on-chain rate feeds, and a transparent scoring framework that weights security and cost above everything else. Every data point is verifiable, every score is reproducible, and affiliate status never touches the ranking algorithm.
The team
crypto.loans is built by a small team with backgrounds in crypto markets, data engineering, and financial product analysis. We publish under the crypto.loans name rather than individual bylines — the data and methodology should stand on their own, independent of personality.
We don't accept payment for rankings, and our scoring methodology is published in full so anyone can audit exactly how we arrive at each score.
What makes us different
Most comparison sites manually check a handful of platforms every few weeks. We take a different approach:
- 17 platforms reviewed — CeFi, DeFi, hybrid, and P2P — more than any other independent comparison site.
- Live DeFi rate feeds sourced directly from on-chain smart contracts, not manually scraped.
- Historical rate database tracking how rates move over time, not just today's snapshot.
- 4 risk calculators — loan cost, liquidation simulator, LTV optimizer, and refinance comparator.
- Transparent methodology — our scoring framework is fully public, weighting cost and safety at 60% of every score.
How we make money
Some outbound links on the site are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission — at no extra cost to you — if you sign up through them. Affiliate links are clearly disclosed wherever they appear and always carry nofollow sponsored attributes.
We are also building a rate data API and embeddable comparison widgets for publishers and developers. Diversifying revenue beyond affiliates is important to us — it reduces any incentive to let commercial relationships influence editorial decisions.
Editorial independence
Affiliate relationships never influence our rankings, scores, or which platforms we cover. We score on data alone. Platforms we have no commercial relationship with are ranked on exactly the same basis as those we do — and several of them sit at the top of our tables. If a platform with a generous affiliate program has weak security or poor transparency, its score reflects that.
